Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleeping Mask… I am sure you have all heard of it!
This mask took the beauty industry by storm in 2018… the hype was in fact real. It’s pretty pink jar was plastered all over beauty blogs and instagram feeds. I remember when this product launched, it sounded perfect in every way. Delicious watermelon scent, clean beauty stamped and filled with over-night hydration; I think so!
This product is only sold at Sephora and seemed to always be sold out. It wasn’t until a few months after the product launched, that I was actually able to get my hands on it.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleeping Mask: What It’s All About
Glow Recipe is a Korean Skincare Brand created by Sarah Lee and Christine Chang. The brand prides itself on natural, fruit-forward skincare products that are beautifully packaged and completely sustainable.
All products are formulated to be clean and cruelty free! They are free of sulfates, phthalates and parabens, just to name a few. These are all things that are super important to me when I am searching for new skincare products to try.
The Watermelon Sleeping Mask is formulated with watermelon extract to help hydrate and soothe, peony root to brighten and hyaluronic acid to help retain the moisture in your skin. It retails for $59.00 for 2.7oz (80ml) of product.
To use, you smooth a generous amount of the mask onto your skin and allow the product to sink in as you sleep. I usually prefer to smooth it all over my face when I am fresh out of the shower and leave it on for about 10-15 minutes. This is a great time to apply any face mask, as your pores are clean and open from the heat of the shower, allowing for maximum absorption and benefit from the product.
This mask has a gel-like consistency and glides over the face effortlessly. It absorbs beautifully into the skin so there is rarely any product that I ever need to rinse off. My face always feels very hydrated and soft after each use!
The Pros
- The watermelon scent is very nice and not too strong which I love!
- The packaging is beautiful and I really like how it is completely recyclable.
- The gel-like consistency is nice and absorbs flawlessly into the skin!
- This mask is a clean skincare product with natural ingredients.
- Leaves my skin feeling hydrated and soft.
The Cons
- Although this mask has gorgeous packaging, I find the jar format makes it awkward and kind of difficult to get the product out. The product has a thin, gel-like consistency so it easily slips through my fingers as I am trying to retrieve the product.
- It is pretty expensive, although I do have to say, the product does go a long way so I do not have to repurchase regularly.
My Overall Thoughts
I honestly don’t really have anything negative to say about this product and I am happy that I added it in to my skincare routine. It smells absolutely dreamy and feels so good on my skin. The one thing I will say, is that this mask gives more of a subtle hydration. I always feel great after I use it, but if you are looking for a product with extra deep moisturizing qualities, this may not fully deliver.
When my skin is in need for extra moisture, I usually find myself reaching for other products like the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask. I do always come back to the Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleeping Mask though because it is on the lighter side and a nice pick me up for my skin throughout the week. It is a great product addition to add into your routine because it is quite versatile, as you can use it more often than other extremely hydrating masks.
