In honour of World Gin Day, I am sharing my super refreshing Empress Gin Smash with Blackberries & Basil!
The recipe for my Blackberry & Basil Gin Smash blends together summertime fruity flavours with herbaceous notes to create the perfect refreshing cocktail!
I was so excited that World Gin Day was coming up when I was planning out what recipes to share with you all this month because I have yet to feature gin on my website! It just seemed to work out perfectly if you ask me 😉
It’s All About The Gin
This recipe calls for Empress Gin… the prettiest gin you will ever try!
Empress Gin has a lovely purple colour that can turn to a bright fuchsia, indigo blue, or even a soft pastel pink depending on what ingredients are mixed with it… pretty cool!
The Fairmount Empress Hotel in Victoria, BC inspired the creation of this delicious gin!
There are a few key ingredients that make this gin so unique! The first being, Butterfly Pea Blossom! This is what allows each bottle to have its vibrant and unmistakable colour. It is also known for the addition of Fairmount Empress Tea, Juniper, and Grapefruit Peel.

Ingredients:
- 1 oz Empress Gin
- 1 oz Simple Syrup
- 1 Lemon Wedge
- 2 Blackberries + another for garinish
- 2 Large Basil Leaves
- 3 Kiwi Slices
- Soda Water
- Ice Cubes
Method:
In a cocktail shaker, add the Empress Gin and the simple syrup over ice. Then add the basil leaves, blackberries and squeeze the lemon wedge into the cocktail shaker. Shake until all of the ingredients are combined.
Pour the Empress Gin mixture into a cocktail glass and add more ice if needed. Top with soda water and garish with a blackberry, basil leaves and kiwi slices.
Sip, sip and enjoy your refreshing summer cocktail!
