With the random sprinkles of rain that we’ve been getting lately, the outdoors have been soaking it up in the best way. The grass is starting to turn green and I have even spotted a few green leaves popping out on some of the trees!
I can pretty much taste all of the lovely backyard bbq’s and serene nature walks with my sweet pup that are about to start happening!
With this weekend being absolutely GORGEOUS, you are probably wanting to soak up all of that beautiful sunshine outdoors on the patio! Luckily, I am sharing 5 Ways to Spruce up your Outdoor Patio so you can create a fabulous space of your own to enjoy all of those lovely sunny days this spring & summer!
There are 5 simple ways I absolutely love that can easily turn your outdoor patio into a dreamy oasis that are completely customizable to your own personal style! Keep reading if you want to find out what they are!
Outdoor Area Rugs
The addition of an outdoor area rug is one of the simplest and most effective ways to elevate your patio! It is a fabulous way to create a cohesive space that feels comfortable and grounded with only one item!!
You can choose to keep it simple and neutral or add colour and pattern! Not only will an outdoor area rug give your patio personality, but it is also very functional by softening any hard surface that you place it on.
Soft Fabrics
Add layers to your outdoor patio space with beautiful soft fabrics like accent pillows, seating cushions and throw blankets! These items are probably one of the first things that come to mind when it comes to sprucing up your patio… but its because they truly make a difference!
Soft fabrics can really make a statement by adding colour and texture to create a cozy space! There are countless weather resistant options available out there now so you can bring your personality to your patio decor. The best part is, they are not permanent and can be changed at any time so you are never stuck with something!

If you know me, you know that I am obsessed with surrounding myself with gorgeous plants and flowers! They bring needed texture and add beautiful pops of colour! Not to mention, they smell so lovely!!
There are plenty of simple and easy ways to utilize greenery & florals in your outdoor space through planters, gardens, table centrepieces, hanging baskets, or even leafy vines! You can incorporate whatever plants or florals speak to you that will compliment your space and make it stand out in a beautiful and unique way.
Lighting
Consider shedding some light on your beautiful patio! Lighting creates a cozy, inviting space that you can enjoy into the evening hours!
Lighting can be expensive in some cases so it sadly becomes one of the most overlooked ways to spruce up an outdoor space. In reality, it can be as simple as adding some string lights (the LED and Solar Powered options are AMAZING right now) which can actually be very budget friendly and create a gorgeous space that you will never want to leave!
Lets be real… have you ever seen a cozy patio that was softly lit with twinkling lights that you didn’t want to spend time in!? I thought so 😉

A fire pit will create a functional outdoor space that brings people together… this design element is the perfect invitation for a gathering with loved ones. I love that a fire pit can allow your outdoor patio space to be utilized not only during the day, but also during the evening when it starts to cool down.
