Are you ready for a little refresh in your home?

I absolutely love the holidays and all of the decorating that comes along with it. It is so exciting to put up the tree and decorate with garland and pretty ornaments… although it can start to feel a little bit much after the holidays pass and we enter the new year.

I have to say that once we step into January, I am always a little eager to take down the holiday decor. It allows me to reset and embrace a fresh start for the year.

There is seriously nothing better than a fresh, clean space to relax in! So keep on reading because I am sharing 5 Easy Ways to Refresh Your Home After the Holidays!

Refresh the Colour Palette in Your Home

First things first, the holiday decorations need to come down… duh, I’m sure you already knew that 😉

With the holiday decorations packed away and ready for next year, you can begin to transition from your holiday colour palette of rich reds and greens, to a more fresh colour palette that is clean and inviting!

Get creative and incorporate your favourite neutrals with pops of colour! At the moment, I am really loving soft blues and creams myself!

Swap out Pillow Coverings and Throw Blankets

Accent pillow coverings and throw blankets are amazing because they are easily interchangeable and bring pops of colour, pattern and texture.

January is the perfect time of year to swap them out to create a fresh new space. You can also consider replacing your duvet cover for another simple refresh within your home!

Spend a day Organizing

Consider scheduling a day, or a series of days to focus on organizing and de-cluttering your home.

Overtime, we can start to accumulate a ton of stuff on shelves, surfaces and in drawers and closets. This especially happens for most of us after the holidays. By having a day or series of days within your schedule allocated towards this task, you can begin to re-organize to create a clean and inviting space for you to start off the new year.

Think about putting items that bring you joy on display and donating items you no longer need. It’s amazing how lovely you will feel after refreshing your home!

Surround Yourself with Greenery

Over the holiday season, you most likely had your home decorated with lots of greenery from beautiful strands of garland to the Christmas tree. Once all of that has come down, I always like to re-introduce greenery back into my home with all different kinds of plants.

Greenery makes any space come alive by adding gorgeous pops of colour and texture. There are also many health benefits to surrounding yourself with luscious plants!

Treat Yourself in a Calm Space

December can be a stressful and extremely hectic month. Take some time to treat yourself after the holidays!

Once you completed one, or all of the things I have listed above to help refresh your home after the holidays, it’s time for some self-care! Get cozy with your favourite blanket, light some candles and curl up with your favourite book or tv show. Or maybe for you, self-care means doing a home workout or enjoying a cup off tea… or glass of wine 😉

Allowing yourself time to relax and enjoy your home can clear your mind and and put you in a good head space for the amazing year ahead 🙂
